Miami Beautiful respects the privacy of its readers, contributors and email subscribers. This Privacy & Data Policy explains what information this website may collect, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

Email newsletter signups

When you join the Miami Beautiful Loop, we collect the email address you submit and your consent to receive email. When the built-in WordPress signup system is being used, we also store the signup date and the page where the signup occurred. The built-in signup system stores opted-in addresses privately in WordPress for site administrators.

Reader contributions and place suggestions

If you use a “Do you have something to add?” or “Suggest a Place” form, we may collect the details you submit, a place or topic name, an address when relevant, optional contact email, optional photo or reference link, and the source page associated with the submission. We use this information to review, verify, edit and potentially publish Miami-related information.

Location information

The “Near Me” map feature uses your browser’s geolocation permission only after you choose to use it. The Miami Beautiful theme uses those coordinates in your browser to center the map and does not save them to the site’s WordPress database. You can deny or revoke location permission through your browser or device settings.

Technical and usage data

Like most websites, the hosting provider, WordPress, security tools, analytics tools if enabled, and external content providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, requested pages, referral information, timestamps and server logs. WordPress may also use cookies for functions such as administrator logins, comments if enabled, preferences and security.

Maps, media and third-party services

Miami Beautiful uses Leaflet mapping resources and OpenStreetMap map tiles. The theme may also load fallback images from Wikimedia-hosted resources and software files from content-delivery networks. Loading third-party resources can disclose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and browser details, to those providers. Links to social networks, businesses and other websites are governed by the privacy practices of those destinations.

When information may be shared

Miami Beautiful does not sell or rent the personal information submitted through its built-in newsletter or contribution forms. Information may be processed by service providers that help operate the website, hosting, email delivery, security, analytics or other site functions. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or investigate misuse of the site.

Retention

Newsletter information may be retained while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward for suppression, recordkeeping or legal purposes. Reader submissions may be kept as part of the editorial record. Technical logs are retained according to the practices of the hosting, security and analytics providers in use. Information that is no longer reasonably needed may be deleted or anonymized.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe method provided in an email, when available, or by contacting Miami Beautiful. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you previously submitted to this site. Children’s privacy

Miami Beautiful is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to submit personal information through the site.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures available through WordPress and the site’s hosting environment to protect submitted information. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Miami Beautiful adds or changes services, vendors or data practices. The “Last updated” date above will be revised when material changes are made.
