New Year’s Day falls on Friday, January 1, 2027. In Greater Miami, that gives you a three-day weekend for a beach outing, a reserved brunch or a slower neighborhood walk. Choose one main area rather than spending the day moving between Miami Beach, Brickell and Key Biscayne. This guide focuses on January 1 daytime plans; our New Year’s Eve guide covers the December 31 countdown.
A confirmed New Year’s brunch in Brickell
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau lists New Year’s Weekend Brunch at TULUM at W Miami for January 1–2, 2027, noon to 4 p.m. The rooftop restaurant is at 485 Brickell Avenue, on the 15th floor. The listing describes a Latin- and Mediterranean-inspired buffet and quotes $65 for adults and $35 for children ages 4–12, plus taxes and service charge.
The hotel’s official event calendar also lists the January 1–2 brunch. Confirm your preferred seating, children’s arrangements, dietary needs and final bill directly before reserving. A published event listing does not guarantee that tables remain available. If brunch is your anchor, leave the rest of the day flexible instead of committing to a distant timed attraction.
A beach-and-picnic day on Key Biscayne
Crandon Park is an option for families who prefer sand, a promenade and picnic areas to a restaurant reservation. Miami-Dade County describes a two-mile beach with picnic tables and grills. Pack water, food, sun protection and a layer for a breezy afternoon; bring a way to carry everything back out.
Use the county’s Crandon Park visitor page to check access, parking charges and individual facility arrangements. We have not confirmed a separate January 1, 2027 schedule for the nature center, concessions or rentals. Do not make a particular rental or guided activity essential to your outing without checking it first. County rules prohibit glass containers and pets other than service animals.
Check Cape Florida’s closure notice before adding the lighthouse
Farther south on Key Biscayne, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is another place to consider. However, the official park page, checked November 2, 2026, carries an October 28 notice closing the lighthouse grounds until further notice because of king-tide flooding and canceling lighthouse tours.
That notice does not establish conditions on January 1. Recheck it close to your trip, and do not promise your group a lighthouse climb unless the park confirms access has resumed. Treat Crandon and Cape Florida as alternatives for your main outing; adding both can turn an easy beach day into a sequence of parking stops.
Build a manageable holiday plan
For a neighborhood afternoon instead, use our Miami neighborhood guides to choose an area near your accommodation. Confirm a café or meal stop first, then keep the walk flexible. January 1 business hours can differ from the regular Friday schedule; an ordinary weekly timetable is not confirmation of holiday opening.
Before leaving, check Miami weather and radar, the destination’s current notices and your return transport. For a beach outing, read posted water conditions on arrival. For a reserved meal, check parking or drop-off arrangements and allow a buffer. These are suggested day plans, not announced January 1 park programs or guaranteed weather conditions.
