Holiday Season in Miami 2026: An Early-December Planning Guide

The start of December in Miami can mean art outings, holiday lights and time with visiting family in the same week. Treat those as separate choices before combining them into a trip. This guide uses December 1 as an editorial planning anchor, not as a claim that every seasonal event opens that day.
Early December overlaps with Miami Art Week
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s 2026 Art Week guide gives the destination-wide dates as November 30–December 6. It lists Art Basel Miami Beach for December 4–6, alongside separate fairs with their own schedules. One fair’s ticket or preview invitation does not provide entry to every Art Week event.
Choose your main art visit first, then look at where it is relative to your accommodation and meal plans. A trip built around Miami Beach is different from one centered on Wynwood or downtown. Before purchasing, confirm the public entry date, time slot and location with the particular fair or venue rather than relying on the general week-long dates.
Give Wynwood its own room in the itinerary
Research Wynwood Walls as a distinct art stop, with Panther Coffee in Wynwood as a nearby-area option to investigate for a break. These are regular place listings, not a promise that a particular Art Week ticket includes either destination or that an unannounced special program will take place.
Leave time to look around instead of filling every hour with a booking. If your group has different interests, agree on one shared visit and allow a separate period for individual exploring. Confirm the actual walking or driving route before describing two stops as a quick connection.
Book a selected evening for holiday lights
For a different kind of outing, Zoo Miami lists Zoo Lights 2026 on November 27–28 and selected December nights, including December 4–5, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. It is separately ticketed from daytime zoo admission. Check the exact date and booking terms before fitting it around an art visit.

Add an unhurried outdoor day
If the group wants a break from events, research a visit to Greynolds Park or Oleta River State Park. Check current access, hours and any activity-specific booking requirements. These are daytime alternatives, not confirmed holiday festival venues.
Finish with a simple checklist: one main activity per outing, confirmed admission, a meal plan and a return journey. Recheck Miami weather and organizer updates close to departure.
